Save our safety net. You (or your friends & family) may need it someday!

On October 6, the Washington Post reported that “the Trump administration is preparing a plan that will make it harder for older Americans to qualify for Social Security disability payments, part of an overhaul of the federal safety net for poor, older and disabled people that could result in hundreds of thousands of people losing benefits…” 750,000+ could lose such benefits due to the Trump plan. Trump’s proposed cuts to Medicaid, if permitted, project to almost 11 million lower-income Americans losing health care coverage; Trump cuts likewise threaten to devastate SNAP, the program which helps millions of lower-income Americans put food on their table. Help for seniors in paying for out-of-pocket Medicare costs may be put off for years. We’re talking about programs Trump promised not to touch, even though they can be life-support for our most vulnerable citizens. We need a Congress that will step up to the plate, and voting YES on Prop 50 is our way to get a Congress that will care about the needs of so-called "average" Americans, not just the wealthiest few.
